My Ireland trips best find's
I made two trips over to Ireland, one in 2002 and the other in 2004. I stayed about three months each trip. I stead at Slane Farm Hostel. They have 257 acres that you can detect, and a old village site, and a old abbey site, and a old ring fort site. I only detected a small amount of there property. I found old coins, and botton, and other artefact there, most are from the mid 1700's, the oldies was a Edward the I London mint silver penny about 1280 AD. A few from the late 1600's. Most of the coins are half penny's, and a few are British. See photo. The Edward the I is a little ploughed damaged.
Very nice finds , Are there any international laws about removing treasure from the country I ran into a few snags taking Items out of Peru S.A. Just wondering
Nice finds. I would say the laws are strict regarding relics and relic hunting, but the enforcement is pretty lax. As long as you don't hunt a national monument site or a historical site, people will leave you alone. If anybody is planning a trip then look me up when you get here. I'm pretty new to the hobby and I'm always looking for company.

Nice finds. I have been thinking of taking a trip there and was wondering about meatl detecting. Thanks for filling in the gaps. Sounds like you had a great time on both trips ,now please post more pics of that beautiful country!

And here's my little helper, my son David. I had him out this weekend, and he was fascinated by my metal detecting. He picked up a stick and started sweeping it around like he was metal detecting with it. XCan't waiit till he's big enough to get him his own detector.

I missed that spot, maybe there was no geocache's there at the time I was there. I did all my detecting at Slane Farm, but I did go out geocaching, for a week at a time using the bus, so I was some what limited to were I went. Ya I plan on going back in a year or so. If I go I will let you know, and maybe you can show me so good spots.
Bebop, no problem. When you come back to Ireland I'll take you to a couple of good spots.

Very nice old coins! Not many people detect in ireland!
Anyone can make life interesting you just have to go out there and do things instead of sitting on your butt doing nothing. Second quote: Life is about trying new things not just standing around.
