Nazi Knife Handles
These were found on a N. California beach this week. The blades were gone but the handles were in excellent condition.

Re: Nazi Knife Handles
Nice conversation pieces. I have a little thought of why the blades are missing though. Remember it's JMO, I wonder if someone acquired those and broke them up and threw them away because they were either afraid they may be sold as originals or possibly are originals and they didn't want to see any Nazi items survive. Again JMO.

Pardon my ignorance but are these contemporary? They look too "new" to be anything else...

Re: Nazi Knife Handles
Neat finds. I'm quite certain they're contemporary... they deviate from the design of the originals in many ways, and the materials do not look correct. But they had to be fun to find.

Re: Nazi Knife Handles
I do belive these are replicas, i had alot of different items from the 2ww when i was younger. And i also had similar knifes in my collection. i belive Nr 1 is a copy of a Political dagger for the NSDAP. And i belive nr 2 is a copy of a wehrmacht dagger. (maybe im wrong)
The value for original complete knifes is for nr 1: ca 1000+us. And for nr 2: ca 700us.
Its been some years since i had my items, so maybe the prices has changed.
I hope this help identifying your items.
(forgot to tell you that the eagles is placed on the wrong knifes. You must change them to the correct knife)
Det vi vet er så uendelig lite mot det som har hendt. Arkeologen er som den som går langs en strand og finner småtterier, skyllet i land fra et forsvunnet skib. Men selve skibet som gikk i dypet med menneskene får han aldri se.

Re: Nazi Knife Handles
Thought I would intercede here. Being that Pidjammies1 and I often detect together. These were found by a lady in Pidjammies1 detecting club. And I think Pidjammies took the pictures and posted them for the lady. To help ID them as well as to show them.
Though I haven't seen them in person. The handles in relationship to the wood grain back ground. Makes me think they might be quite small. Perhaps letter openers?
If so, I bet they didn't come from a jewish household. Nice finds!!! HH

Re: Nazi Knife Handles
Howdy,
Nice find, but unfortunately they are very fake, and very poor ones at that!
For one thing, on both items the quillions are upside down, signalling these where put together by someone who has no knowledge of Third Reich edged weapons.
The closest originals i have found would be, the Army 1935 dagger, and the
Government Administration 1939 dagger.
Their is my 2 bob.
