This is another of my favorite finds, it is quite rare and is called " lampe corbeau" (translation " raven lamp ") it is of French fabrication from the 17th century, they stoped fabrication in the late 1600s and came out with a shorter beack design and called it " lampe corneille " (" crow lamp ").
For those that are wondering how it worked well they would place one end of a whick in the bottom put a small stone on it to keep it from floating then place the other end at the tip of beack fill the container with any kind of melted fat ( whale, seal, bear... etc.) and light it up.
It was dug in the foundations of a long sinse gone cabin alongside a river in Qc's North Shore.
Great save of a historical item. I have been in the ruins of one old stone house here in S. Korea. Sends shivers up and
down my spine. If you have more stuff of similar caliber, post it up, please. I'm adding it to my pictures on my computer.
I want to look at that thing every now and then.
Have some more great hunts. Smith, in S. Korea
Can't find it if you're watching tv at home, your machine isn't on, and the head of your detector is pointed up!!

This is cool. I would so sport that lamp on my coffee table. I bet the detector's speaker was about to blow out of its housing when you went over that piece. AWESOME!!
