This is one I found earlier this year, just after finding the Bronze age axe. I didn't put this on Tnet for 2 reasons, 1. I had just got banner with the axe and I didn't want to be greedy, and 2. my farmer was worried about hawks coming in and damaging his crops. So here is my best spur ;D

It has been confirmed as 14th century

This is the only one i have. I found it earlier this year in a wooded area, in the fields i had fragments only. Now identified around 1300-1350. Best of all is that i have the buckle too. It was 1 metre from the spur.

That is a really nice Prick Spur mate . According to my books on medieval armour and the UKDFD it might be earlier than you think, maybe 11th to 12th century. Try this link http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showrecords.php?product=18677&cat=210

Hi Hammered :hello:

My first guess was 12th century too. The one in the ukdfd is a near perfect match, but my one has bend arms. That was dated to a later period... :dontknow:
I am just happy with that spur in this condition. To find a complete one together with the buckle is amazing.
But Your iron one complete is the better deal..... :notworthy:

Thanks mate :icon_thumleft:, I am going back to that field in Feb, I hope to find some more good stuff :laughing7: . But the spurs you and kuger have posted are equally as good , thanks for your input. I really like the Georgian/American civil war spurs too :icon_thumleft:

You have some nice spurs there! I dont want to be a horse that time! And i thought a prick spur is a bad thing....
And the banner? You know that the standard for european hunters is quite high! :tongue3: I'm just happy with a rare find! :headbang:

Can't keep up with the old European or Western Spanish spurs but

this is my best. Spurs, for me, are pretty difficult to find. I have 3 complete US and 1 complete CS....here tis Richmond Spur found in Northern Va summer of 2009.

Haven't found much in the way of spurs, but here's one I dug in a colonial trash pit at a site dating from 1650-1750.

Hope you guys don't laugh to hard. This is the closest thing to a spur I've found! It was found in a kids sand box at a school...

The only Spur I've found in this condition. The rest were just pieces. This is a North, and Judd Pat. 1879. It's called the Cowboy Spur.
