$700+ worth of gemstones found with my detector
Got my covellite finished being cut, and i still have almost half my stone left over! The jeweler estimated each stone at $90.00-$125.00 a peice. So far this stone is the most valuable thing i have found with my ace 250! I acctually got nine stones out of it so far, but only 8 are pictured because i sold one already!<3 gemstones!!!

Well done. A great example of the American free market at work. Very nice!

Covellite is a copper-ore mineral that was mined in the Lenoard mine here in Butte montana. Don't quote me on this but i beleive it was mine out of there at aproximately the 300ft level. This was probably in some miner's lunch box when he took it home and it was maybe in his yard? Or he somehow dropped it i suppose. I found it where im usually looking for seated coins, so it has been there for a long time as the Lenoard mine was closed LONG ago. It read as a "dime" on my ace 250, but i knew it wasn't going to be a dime, because it was just too darn big!!! LOL!!! I did'nt really know what it was till i got it home and washed it off, i thought it was going to be another copper nugget, which i have found before.

Beautiful cabs!!
Unfortunately, brings bad feelings.
About 18 years ago, I was searching for black soapstone in
the mountains in Mariposa County, when I came upon an old stamp mill. Most of the mill was
gone, but the stamps were still there. I took some crushed ore out out of the stamps and found
gold in it, but the sad part is; near the stamps was perhaps 5 or 6 hundred pounds of what we
call Peacock ore. (Covellite) I had no idea it could be cut and polished like that, so I only took
one piece that I gave to a friend.
Now if I could just remember where the heck it was!!
Good show IAMZIM!! Congratulations on your little bonanza.

Beautiful rock both cut and uncut. I've actually cut some Inchon jade while living with my Dad back before I joined the military. I still have the stones but I would really like to get hold of another cutting machine for making settings.

I found this in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelsey_Lake_Diamond_Mine
I've also seen some beautiful "corn-flower blue" Saphires come out of CO.
