My God, Gunner. Those things are beautiful. But is it legal to own them? They look like museum pieces.

How do you know they are real ? I wouldn't have a clue whether I was getting ripped off or not.

Very good question and the answer to it is, I cannot prove they are real; however, I do trust the source from which I acquired them. I plan on taking all of my pieces to the local museum to have them looked at. The artwork on these pieces is very fine and there are portions on each piece in which the burial encrustation remains (inside the loops). Things like this are difficult to forge with respect to coins and give me extra confidence in authenticity. The pieces also have an ancient "feel" about them. I've handled coins before that looked "OK" but just didn't feel 'right'. These are the pieces that I always pass on :).

Thanks for all of the comments all! :)

Looks like they're all from the same artist as they all share a coiled wire in the design execution. It actually takes more work to swage a straight wire than to hammer out a flat form, and it takes a concentrated heat source to solder it in place without deforming the coil. Seems "unique" to be so common in pre-columbian works.

Can't say if they're 7 or 700 years old.

I would tend to be Leary of them. Beautiful workman ship. Almost too beautiful. I am always suspect when something like that is too pristine. Just have them researched and the content tested.
