Found this 3" down, just black, in 2 pieces (hinge broke),and looked like it was stepped on, Gave it to a friend and he took out dent a put it back together at hinge.While cleaning noticed engraving and marks inside the case.Measures 3 1/4"by2 3/4", weights 72 grams sterling. 002 (14).JPG

Yes its a Sterling Silver, the marks inside are C.L&S, a lion,a shield with a sword surrounded by 3 boxes and the letter R in a square boX with the corners of the box cut off.

Turns out the maker is Charles Lyster & Son, made in Chester,England, 1900.
