Brooch returned from jewelers, before and after pics!

I found this brooch in my front yard at about 8 inches. It was in great condition, all things considered, but was very dirty and the clasp was broken off the back. I took it to a local jeweler to have it repaired and cleaned. I am so happy with how it turned out! The pictures don't do it a whole lot of justice, but it really is so very beautiful and shiny again!

These are called "micro mosaics" (if I am seeing the photo correctly). They are made up of many tiny pieces of stones or sometimes gems. These were popular from the mid-40's through the 1960's.

Very, very nice pin! Your jeweler did a great job cleaning and repairing it.

It's a beautiful piece. Kudos to you for bringing it back to life & usability.

It certainly looks Victorian in style to me. The Italian House of Savoy (Victor Emmanuel III) was on the throne at this time. The intarsia work is done with tiny glass tesserae in a flower mosaic. Is it set in silver? Morning Glory Collects

I'd love to see some natural light photos, if you're so inclined... Is there a lovely lady that will be honored to wear it?

I'm going to see if I can polish up those last 3 pics a bit, as the white balance
appears to be out of whack. Will repost them when done, and if you don't like
the changes I'll be glad to remove them.

Crap...looks like they're still working on the pic issue. They came out much improved,
and after seeing them better the handiwork of the artist really shows up. That's something
anyone would want in their collection!

Brandon, I checked the EXIF data for the last pic, and found that the
camera chose "fluorescent" under the "White Balance" setting, and
that could be the reason for the yellowing.

If you can set the parameters yourself, try kicking the ISO up to ISO400,
as that will get you a faster shutter speed (sharper pic). Also, if you are
shooting the pic under a fluorescent light, check to see that the white balance
is set for the color temp of the lights, as fluorescent lamps can range from
"Cool White" to "Daylight" down to "Soft White", a much lower color temp.

Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/45 second ===> 0.02222 second
Lens F-Number / F-Stop = 30/10 ===> ƒ/3
Exposure Program = normal program (2)
ISO Speed Ratings = 100

Aperture = ƒ/3
Max Aperture = ƒ/2.8
Metering Mode = multi-spot (4)
Light Source / White Balance = fluorescent (2)
Flash = Flash did not fire
Focal Length = 6300/1000 mm ===> 6.3 mm
Exposure Mode = auto exposure (0)
White Balance = auto (0)

Avoiding the flash is a good idea, as unless you can redirect the flash to bounce off the
ceiling the reflections from a direct flash would make capturing the shot difficult.
