My mid-century Trash dump

Behind a baseball field about a quarter mile into the forest, lies an old house foundation. Sadly, there was little to be found. Around the area, there were small colonial artifacts such as flat buttons and lock pieces. However, I noticed a large load of bottles littered across the ground.





There was a huge pile of leather as well.



As I began to explore it, I found a lot of glass, pottery, brick, and iron. But mixed in were some real treasures.



Buckles upon buckles. Both iron and brass. It makes me think that this may have been a barn possibly because of all the leather that probably composed over a dozen saddles.



Also, there were lots of brass rings that I since have learned connected the leather together. I have some confidence that the dump dates between the 1920s-1950. These finds are after TWO trips of 3 hours each and without the help of a detector or sifter. Just imagine what I might pull next time!

Some nice hinges. They look they may have been in a fire.



A nice silver-plate spoon



A nice part of a lantern.



The only bottle I took home. Probably a salad dressing bottle circa 1940s.



Some hooks and clips, 2 square nails, top to a make-up compact, a pair of scissors, and a rosette.



.......And possibly my best find. A really nice U.S. army coat button from either World War One or Two. It was sitting right atop the ground too. Surrounding it are what I think are belt slides?

I'd say that in the picture before the hinges that looks like the bit from a horse's bridle?

I found the same button, it is from ww2 if it has Tiffany on the back it is worth a bit. Some one on eBay bid 70 dollars on it. HH and good luck

The button is from ww2 on eBay somebody bid 70 dollars on one made by Tiffany. It could say Tiffany and co on the back. I found the same button. I talked to a ww2 vet and he said it was only given to some positions/position in the army.
