One of my favorite finds this year, not really worth anything but I registered it with the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Bird Banding Laboratory. They told me the following:

Species: AMERICAN CROW
Date banded: 02/02/2005
Banding Location: DANVILLE, VERMILION COUNTY, ILLINOIS, USA
Age: HATCHED IN 2003 OR EARLIER
Sex: UNKNOWN

The bird is a long way from home for sure, a few days later the USGS sent me a certificate.

Now that is a unique find! That bird traveled a long distance for you to find that band.

Cool find.

I was a bird bander for many years. I had a couple of returns from Ontario.

I banded a White-winged Dove one morning and that afternoon it was shot 40 miles away.

Banded a Black-chinned Hummingbird and it was recaptured by a bander the following year in Minnesota.
