Oh my god thank you my lord for this amazing coin find. Today I went to a house built in 1694 and found this amazing piece of fine silver. I almost passed out from excitement it was very deep about 24 inches or so almost gave up on it but then an edge of shine came from deep in the earth so I carefully excavated it out this is what I got I love my garret at pro

If the coin reads .999 fine (as your title suggests), it's a fake.
If .999 is a typo (it should be .900), then the blur, as noted by "Lweopard11" is probably an "S ".
In either event, the find is sensational !! Congrats.

Check for the price at which the trade coins are being offered.
Real Trade Dollars coins sell for around US$ 20 for an average conditioned coin.
If you are being offered for a lower price,
then we would probably have to check out why the sellers offer them at this price.

Uhhhhhhhhh....20 bucks for the Real Deal???

Dinnin-N-Dumps,
Did you mean to write US $200 versus US $20?
I believe most any VF-20 trade dollar (1873-1885) free of chop marks would sell for around the $200 number.
Don.....

No, I actually found that online....Which is why I said something about it...because as you said, that number seems WAY off

Just goes to show that the Internet doesnt always have its facts straight

The coinage law of March 3, 1871 was revised in 1873. One consequence of the bill was the elimination of the silver dollar. In its stead, the Trade Dollar of greater weight was provided for use in commerce with the Orient in competition with the Mexican dollar. The coinage law of 1873 made no provision for the standard silver dollar.Silver dollars were again authorized in 1878 and resumed production in the same year; the Morgan dollar.
Don...(with the help of The Official Red Book).
