Just messing around in the backyard (town was first settled around c.1786) with an hour to spare and got my first large cent - 6-8 inches deep, (underneath a nail and a tree root) with my new AT Pro. It's an 1822 Matron Head.
Now I'm going to have to check out the whole yard -- all 5 acres!

I bet your face lit up like mine did when I found my first. I still get excited to find them. G.A.P.metal gave me a great tip on cleaning them too. Toothpicks only! Thanks Gary! Lots of very helpful people here. Hope to see you post your next LC from your lawn soon David.:icon_thumright:
