Some of you know that I found a $2 1/2 gold coin last summer along with a 14kt gold chain wrapped in a cigarette package at an old horse riding stables. The chain had no clasp and that's how it ended up in the ciggie pack for storage I guess, and then lost or discarded by mistake by the owner? The coin was holed, used as a pendant and had a crappy looking ringlet on it.

Well, I finally spent the money to get the chain fixed. I had a nice 14kt lobster claw clasp soldered onto it and then an 18kt soldered ringlet onto the gold coin. Now it's wearable jewelry again which is a cool way to show off my treasure trophy.

HH to all, good luck. Here's some pics!

That is beautiful! Sure can show off your finds well that way! :D

Thanks Cyn... I still like the 14Kt thick chain and 14Kt cross I found last year (two separate finds) better. I have worn the cross every day almost since I found the chain on Aug 18th.

Awesome find, BDoo. I remember back when you found it....couple of months before I got my detector. Sure looks nice with the chain cleaned up. Until this post, though, I didn't realize you'd found it an old riding stable. I've been working on permission to hunt a late 1800's/early 1900's riding stable just a few miles from my home. If I get the okay, you can bet every single cigarette pack will examined!
