Hello my fellow dirt fishers,
It's been a busy year and not enough time to hunt, and for that matter, it's been a while since my last hunt and my last post.

As I sit here I can't help but to wonder if I should sell some of my good finds. I know it's not the best or oldest stuff, but it was a tremendous joy digging these finds in the middle of nowhere. Who would've know I could discover history in the desert in such a short time.
I started this hobby in 2013 and loved every moment of it.

There was never enough time to hunt before the sun would call it a day. 2 hrs was more like 30mins...
It's just a thought, but thinking of getting rid of some of this stuff, for trade or sale, maybe even some history information if that.

I really don't know the value to some of my finds. Maybe there's a collector who's interested in some of them or would like to trade. I'm open to the idea. Most of them still have dirt and crud on them.

Again, it's just a thought. What do you guys think?
If anything enjoy the pictures,
Texas Yankee

I don't think money will be a satisfactory trade for the memories, in the long run. Unless you're REALLY in a pinch, I'd hang onto them.

I spent a year at Ft. Bliss in a language school - Vietnamese, and did have quite a passion for Juarez :icon_thumright:

All that military bling is very cool!

I wouldn't sell a thing. I've never sold anything I found, though divorce took care of that. Those finds will give you so much pleasure over the years. If you don't need the money, don't walk away from memories.

Wow, now that's a lot of sweet finds! Being a native Texan (displaced to the cool, sub-zero temperatures of Minnesota), the only thing I can see that you're lacking is a genuine Texas Rangers badge!! :headbang: So my advice would be to keep the party going until that time, THEN consider your options.

That's a lot of history - not just general, but also yours. If you truly are into history, I think you might come to miss your treasures. Trust me, a day will probably come when you start to forget some of the details associated with each find. Then later, the stories may be gone altogether. Getting rid of them now will only hasten that process.

If you have space to, consider building (or buying) a glass display case. Take time to write down some info on each find. In the end, even if you choose to part with them, having their story may add to their value. There may be a particular piece that has some sort of historical significance BECAUSE of where it was found. Don't get me wrong - not meaning in the least to tell you what to do. Only, I plead with you to not be hasty!!

If you really NEED the money. I understand that. But, I would not let something with so many memories slip from my hand.

I am certain that you remember digging each of those relics and coins.

Just my two cents worth....

Your collections is enviable sir.

Beautiful stuff. I would only sell if they become overwhelming in mass. Other than that I rarely sale any of mine and usually give some away. Its a personal choice really.

I have been digging since 1977 and have never sold anything I have found either. Its crazy that most cool items I have found i can look at at remember exactly where I dug them. Great memories.
If you want to figure up a price you would sell the complete frame of items in the top left picture I may be interested in buying it all. Just PM me the price?

Thanks Gary from Oregon

I have sold stuff (the gold rings) over the years, but only to upgrade to a better detector. I always feel bad for a short while, at least until I pickup the new detector.
But I take several photos but it is still not the same.
So don't sell unless your going to upgrade and the find don't have some specials memories (I never experience the same memories looking at the photos as I did holding the find). Anyway what I have sold was just modern jewelry off the beach. But I still have my favorite find and it's my first find, a rusted nail when I was 11. I will never sell that, it means a lot to me.:occasion14:

You have a nice collection of badges and military insignia there. Selling finds comes easy for some people and harder for others. I fall into the latter category.

I regret selling all of the bottles I have dug and cleaned. I used to have one heck of a bottle collection. I sold all of my modern silver back when silver shot up in price and all of the relics worth anything and haven't missed them. I still have my first silver and oldest silver.
