Thanks everyone. Had an hour to kill on some ranch land. There is mining history in the area but no evidence of it today. Hardly any beeps at all, then decided to head home and on way back to the Jeep, I heard a sweet solid 25(Equinox 600 park 1 mode) found it only about 4 inches deep!

That was my question! I believe 1857 "S" Double Eagles that didn't come from the wreck of the Central America are quite rare - because most of them went down with the ship.

Wow, killer find. This probably isn't getting the love it deserves because it isn't in the "Today's Finds" section but I think most of us would do just about anything to make a find like that!
