Found these back around March 10th and was afraid to clean them but I was bored today and decided to work on them anyway. I am floored to find out what they are. Never seen them found before although they prob find them in England.

At 1st we thought they might be 4 leaf clovers. Then after cleaning it seemed certain they were monograms or cyphers. Then a buddy identified them as Queen Anne cufflinks (thanks Dan!). I have since found 2 or 3 variants online and at this point someone would be hard pressed to convince me they aren't Queen Anne cypher linked buttons. I am so pleased with how they cleaned up.

1st up the cuffs cleaned up.

2nd, some variants, a few period examples.

The ca 1702 ring:

3rd, the cuffs as dug

Yep, he definitely got the ID right. I'm gonna take a sharp point and clean out the gunk right around where the glass meets the metal and then leave them alone. Certainly one of my better finds. Thats silver under the glass gems.

Great find just beautiful cuffs try finding an "Apple Throne tree" those thorns work great for that type of cleaning.

Congrats on a rare find. Not only rare as far as subject matter, but it is very difficult to find a linked pair of those jeweled cufflinks, especially in a cultivated field. They are so fragile.

Very interesting find. I've never read much about Queen Anne before. I really enjoy some of these historic finds by you people and the history and stories they bring with them.

Found one more cypher from an old contemporary silver spoon. Just trying to keep all these examples together.
