Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

Hello to all!! With the MD'ing season coming to an end here in Michigan soon, ground to freeze, snow to pile up, it gets me thinking about my best find of the year.

Now I know many of you are lucky enough to be able to hunt year round and maybe this is the start of nice hunting time for you, ground moist, temperatures lower, so get out there :P

Anyway, I would love to see everyones "best" or "favorite" find for the year 2007 posted here.
If you find a better item after posting, come and share that too!!
Please share your story too.. I am sure most would like to hear about your success!

Please doo share!! Let's see em people!!

Smiles! ;D

Here's mine. A 14kt men's nugget ring with 3 diamonds. Fit's me nicely too... love that wearable treasure!! I found it at a park in a grassy area between a basketball court and a volleyball court. It was about a 15 foot wide strip of grass and I pulled 4 rings from it, 3 keepers. Here's a photo from that day showing the nugget ring on my ring finger. I will get some better shots of just this ring up tonight too. Thanks for sharing!!

Sorry Romeo, but it's probably this so far. :P

If my trade axe is marked and there's a good chance after seeing another the same, it will probably be my first pic. But until then, you will have to dwell on being so close to my #1. :D

Yep...a night that will live in infamy!

Lots of great finds on this board. This is my best for 2007 - I found this the first week out with my new DFX at my parents farm, I can't see the date on the coin:

Re: Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

Nice finds everyone..... An awesome post for everyone. Some of these items I dream about. One day maybe if I keep my fingers crossed or maybe I'll just happen over the right spot. That's the sport right????
Anyway, here's my favorite of 2007! A spur! The only one I've ever found. It's circa 1859 and was used primarily by Calvary Officers in the CW. It's not whole though which is cool with me. I actually wrote Paul Rice, who owns Saylers Creek Relics, just to find out value and if there's anything I could do to straighten it out some. He gave me some good hints at straightening it. He said that as is it's worth about 75.00 as is, if it's straightened it would be valued at 125.00 to 150.00.... Not priceless but good enough for me!!!!
Once again all, great finds!!!!! Thanks for allowing me to post mine!!!!

HH,

RR

1852 $5 dollar gold piece,

Here's a picture of my best 2007 find, An 1852 $5 gold piece. Also, Some other finds ( several seated, cache coins etc.) from the same area (1850's Ca. Gold mining town) all enclosed inside a nice display case.

All I have left of the finds including the gold coin is this picture, I gave the entire display to the property owner.

Thanks for looking and happy holidays,
Paul (Ca)

Re: Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

I can't pick between my 2 best for 2007, so I'll post both of them.

The first is a SL Quarter found 3/5/07 in a little stretch of woods adjacent to an old playground.

latest finds 001.JPG latest finds 002.JPG

The second is a Seated Half found 4/13/07 in a small field just off a street, which is used primarily for dog walking. (yes, I was able to dodge the do-do)

My Best find was found in an old fairground park area that is now an open field. It was on my first day out detecting this year and the second target that I dug. It is an 1810 Capped Bust Half Dollar. I have also found a barber half in the same field. 8) 8)
