Since Ironhorse and I struck out bigtime last hunt I figured I'd post this update as maybe someone might find it interesting. I dug this button in 2018 and just assumed if I wanted to track down pics of others and all the details a simple google search would give me that, but I never did it and it stayed put away in my case until a few days ago. That's when I decided to do my search and unlike what I expected, I came up totally empty. Not only could I not find another button like this, I still only had guesses about who wore it, when and exactly why. Finally someone seen a post I had made and got in touch with a contact of his and provided this fantastic information. I'm not sure if it gives all the answers, or if I'm reading it exactly right, but from what I can see it appears that this is one crazy rare button that was only worn by a very small number of people who were greatly spread out in many different places. The person who sent me the page said the button probably belongs in a museum but I have to disagree, it belongs right where it is, in my case. :) It was found halfway down a farm field well away from the site and the only target I got in that particular area.

Congrats on getting the Id on the rare beauty. :icon_thumright::icon_thumleft:

Sort of weird how that works, one signal type of a field, one awesome keeper.
I remember my 1858 20 cent piece, deep ploughed, one signal field.

Walked through a site at the top of the field but wanted to see if there was anything at the bottom. Didn't find anything but got the button on the way down. It is funny how it goes, you can dig a few hundred targets in a day and not get much but dig one and it be a good keeper.

Given the exceptional rarity of such a position ,the few who were those buttons were the guy everyone wanted to see on payday!
Seems like when you might have it all figured out you learn something entirely new. I'm sure theres lots more interesting buttons out there that we will eventually find and get to learn something new again.
