Hi folks. I found this ring in the yard of an old house a couple years ago. It's made from a silver French coin. Inside the band you can read some of the French words that were stamped on the coin and you can make out the date 1916. I like to think it's a soldiers memento from the first world war. I've found more expensive rings but this one is a favorite.
If some of you have found similar rings made from coins I would enjoy seeing them.

I make these rings... last one was from a 1935 US half, one almost done from a 1964 US half.

The coin is 1916 but can you really tell when it was made into a ring? You may have a good assumption though! The trench art idea is cool...

I'd love to dig one of those!

I can't be sure when then ring was actually made so it may just be wishful thinking on my part. I do know it was about six inches deep in the yard of an old house so it must have some age to it.
I've read information on how to make these kinds of rings and I think I would like to try it someday. I bet it takes a lot of patience. Do half dollars make the best rings?
Thanks, smokewagons.

I have a couple of these. One is made from a 1941 silver quarter and the other is unfinished and made from a 1943 walking liberty half dollar. Here's some pics. I think these are really cool and I usually buy them if I find one and the price is right but I haven't seen too many.

Montana Jim, that's cool that you make them!! Fun stuff!!

Andy.
