A selection of "Hammered" silver coins

Just a sample selection of my early silver coins. This period spans from about the 2nd & 3rd century to around the end of the 1500’s. The practice of clipping silver coins had to addressed so the Mints and Money makers/Governments started to introduce “milled” coins instead the manufacturing coins by “Hammering“ them out of gold/silver discs.

Welcome fellow UKer.

Like the hammered  I've yet to get a early hammered Irish!

I hope to see some of your stuff as you find it in the 'todays finds' section.

Dad & I have a post 'all' policy. To show a true reflection of UK hunting. If you can't do this, as least post from time-to-time. Even buttons are nice to see, specially early one!

Thanks Crusader, I have been around the detecting hobby for around 40 plus years so I am sure I can contribute to this global I.T. village of detecting?

Top right I think is Irish?

yeah, that why I mentioned it.

If you need stuff IDing, stick it in the 'what is it'

40 years is a good amount of time. I've only done about 26 years.

Robert, I live in Taunton, my signature says it all, also it’s a bit or a lot like Marmite?

Not sure if I have to explain that one on this forum, but I will say here and now it’s not a derogatory comment!
