You are having a kick arse year, IP. You are the king when it comes to finding Colonial military buttons. I can just see the Colonial artifacts surfacing in record amounts when Fall comes.

IP, not too shabby of a year! :D Here's hoping the fall hunting time is just as productive if not more! Great finds and displays........

You're having a great year so far Iron Patch. Some really remarkable buttons there. I know you always tend to downplay the large coppers but you must have a ten foot high stack of them by now. Keep it up. You're posts are always a joy to read.

Well done!

Those are already some impressive finds. ;D

I think I'm gonna wait until the I hit Militia/CW buckle #4 for this year before I post here...and a third piece of 1700's silver would be welcome too.

I don't think the Iron Brigade will be catching up to you on the coppers this year, but we work hard for the number of LC's we manage to find in such a "young" place as Kentucky.

Cheers,

Buckles

Quite a few this year but every last one was rotted. I don't recall any of my other years being that bad, maybe the good ones will show this Fall.

It's the pre 1800s coppers I like and we have dug very few of those this year, and the ones that did turn up weren't pretty.

On top of the 5 day hunt with the boys I just heard last night from a friend in WI who will be paying me a visit in Oct. for 2 weeks to a month. Oh yeah, I'll be updating this list. I'll actually be making a post soon to see if someone wants to join him on the trip. (driving) Unfortunately his wife past in Dec, they both used to visit me.

Iron -- A STELLAR post for the mid 2008 season so far :notworthy:

I love the buttons , LOVE 'EM !

All the years of hunting for and hoping for marked regiment buttons along the Mohawk river I only have a few USA's , one Contiental Light Dragoons , a Mass 8th , and one NY...these buttons are so elusive ! :sad11:

Seeing what you've uncovered is pure inspiration !! KEEP IT UP !!!!!!!!!!!!

Killer post :occasion14:

Every time there is a reply, I can't resist looking at this post...

When the Iron Brigade turns 1 year old at the end of this year, we will post an eye-popping post. Until then, y'all are just going to have to wait. ;D

I have a great new find to post--another CW button (General Staff) that I had little hope for when i found it in a fertilizer field. Fortunately, some long hours of careful cleaning and it ended up being excellent (except for being mashed some). Lots of pounding of the area and we got an above-average number of buttons (including one Tombac), plus an 1859 IH (almost a copper :))

Cheers,

Buckles

All lg. total, I'd probably prefer to measure them by the pound than count. ;D

It was from a serious Canadian collector who says he collects them among many other coins. He rubs elbows with the most serious collectors/experts in the country so I give a lot of credit to what he has to say. I too have never heard of such a coin.

Maybe he's throwing you a red herring to slap you around a bit. You sure he didn't say it was a Dublin Handshake Token? ;D
