Here are some pics of the (currently) largest uncontrolled fire in CA. The fire is about 6miles from Judy's place. Over 4000 acres consumed and more than 2000 personel are working it. Some of the pics are 2 days old and the most recent 7pm today's (8-3-09). If you are able to zoom the pics, the last one will show some firefighters on the ridge. You can go to www.thepinetree.net to follow the progress. TTC

Right across the river from you in the smoke! You can listen to the scanner traffic live at my website http://incidentfeed.com

GM, KG6YLL from KO4KP!
I live with Judy at 3000 ft... above Murphys. We can look right up the Stanislaus. The heavy lift choppers would come right over the house to pick up water/retardent from the golf course at Forest Meadows. They would come so close to the roof, you could see the pilot. Noise! A few of us went rattlesnake hunting last evening (none found) so we got a look at the fire and it is greatly reduced. Looks like only mop-up left. Great job by the smoke-eaters! We'll talk again. Mother natures way of "Thinnin it out"

Yes... but it gets people nervous around here when the thinin' can be seen from the house! Thanks for the concern... TTC

Hope y'all stay safe, TerryC. With all the beetle-killed pines here we're just one careless campfire away from the fire of the century.
