Here are some pictures i took in an old train tunnel in my area. The bats kept coming close to our faces. They are pretty cute from afar! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Cool place, Tsa-la-gi! You're braver than I, as I saw too many Dracula movies when I was a kid.

That tunnel looks good in black and white! It looks a little creepy, but somehow draws you in. How did you get bats in flight?

What makes this tunnel more creepy is it is haunted. There's another tunnel that goes along this one and it caved in on 3 workers in the 60's as they were in there trying to do some improvements. There bodies were never found and they ended up burying the tunnel and sealing up the opening. There is still a small opening in the old caved in tunnel so i stuck my camera in there and i caught the first bat. It was evening and they were just waking up..or we woke them up. The second bat was inside the tunnel...we could hear them flapping near our faces and i just kept taking pictures...guess it was luck catching them in flight. One of my friends was wearing a hat with a small light on the front of it and one time a bat flew right into his hat...maybe it was trying to go after a bug? They are really clumsy.

Hey, that does look pretty good. Thanks again for the idea. Here's the other fog picture inside the tunnel.

Bats around here aren't clumsy. They can fly right through a tree top in the dark, grab a bug and not ruffle a leaf since they navigate by sonar. Love those pictures. Wonder why things like that are almost magnetic to people? Monty

Thanks for checking out my pictures, Monty. It is creepy not knowing if they will bite your face or not. I don't plan on going back out there at night. When do they go into hibernation?

Slippereyjack, haha. Thanks for the comment. That's the first time i've been that close with the bats. We could feel the flapping of their wings on our faces!
