I took our dog Calypso over to my fossil place,and the rain filled up the pond.

Neogeo--our dogs hate baths too but will play all day long in the creek!
Great picture of the Liatris(Blazing Star?). Its blooming all over the prairie, too! We just picked some of that yesterday and also some Leavenworth Eryngo(Russian thistle) to make a flower arrangement. I love the purple flowers of late summer/early fall.

I think it has to be thier idea whether or not the water is ok. Sewer ponds seem to be the ideal swimming hole.

sandcreek, I was up at the Prairie this weekend, the huge swaths of eryngo in amongst those yellow flowers was really cool. There just wasn't any sunshine to take a good picture. Have you noticed as the weather cools down, the "cool" colored flowers come back? Like blue and purple? the sumac is staring to turn now too.
