    Cutting firewood with 'Hillbillies'

I went over today to the Okie Hillbillie's Ranch to help them cut up a large oak tree that had blown over in a storm this spring, it was a 'twin tree', they fell opposite directions, & we had already cut up one of them a few weeks ago.
We trimmed all we could then I played 'Monkey' & climbed up the trunk & trimmed some limbs, then we slowly cut away & let it settle on some 'stacked wood', it is very dangerous work, but we came out fine.
Mrs Okie is on a cane, has heart trouble, & is on Oxygen at night, but she picked up a saw, did her part, & helped load the wood.

Yup, those would have been some bad ones to cut. You did good to get them all down with no injuries. I have cut a few
down on my place here and still have about 8 or 10 to drop yet. All Ash. I don't know how bad it is around your area,
but around here in Michigan the Emerald Ash Borer is really killing off the Ash trees at an alarming rate. Those bugs
can kill a healthy tree in three years.
You have some good pics here. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments, I have heard you guys are losing a lot of trees, we have had trouble with bugs killing pines, & oaks, I don't know if the 'Ash Borer' has made it here yet.

Nice photos, but it sure looked to me like that chain should be tightened up a bit on that saw.

Folks, there were morew than just that one chain saw there, Fossis just failed top get pictures of the other two. They were Stihl 026 Pro and a Stihl 029 as well as the Husky that you saw in the pictures. The chain was loose because it was the end of the day and we had quit cutting.

Most of it, the large trunk might make a 'cutting block' for the women in their kitchen's.
