Those lights are distant street/building lights.

Yup... same thing. We had a thick fog roll through and this was the result - it's neither uncommon or strange, but it's certainly gorgeous. It covers everything, and can make a chain link fence look solid.

I have had the same type of coverings a few times on my property, but only when we went to around zero in temps and only on plants and bushes in the swamp. That water does not freeze due to ground perculation I guess and when air temps get super cold the frost develops on those plants in the swamp on my side property.

Nice pics by the way, really good effect with the flash.(you did use flash didn't you?)
