My wife shot 360 pictures of this eagle feeding on a deer. No way that I can post them all, so here are a few. I can do a few more pics a little later.

Outstanding pics, packrat, thanks for sharing. I'm seeing a lot of eagles but so far they cut out before I can get set up for the shot. Bald eagles prefer fish, but most folks don't know they will scavenge right along with the buzzards and crows.

thats why franklin did not want the eagle as our "national symbol"-- because it eats carrion no problem --the wild turkey was franklins pick for a "national bird / symbol"

Good pics, I saw an eagle once carrying a hawk in it's talons.

You're right Ivan, and the more you study the habits of the two birds the more sense he made. The word turkey has a bad connotation these days, but they are pretty smart birds. Another thing most folks don't know, is eagles don't sound at all in real life like they do in movies. That high pitched long shriek is usually the cry of a RedTail hawk that filmmakers have dubbed into the soundtrack. Eagles sound more like chattering. And remember, you can't soar with the eagles if you hoot with the owls.
