Here is a picture of what we call a Blue hole. This one blew out of the ground about 30 years ago from the limestone caves below it. The water is ice cold year round.

Great pics!!

How deep is the blue hole ? I bet if something got thrown into that one, you would NEVER see it again.

Im sure that would cool a tasty brew & shrivel the ole pod, have you ever thrown a measured peice of rope with a weight tied to it to try to assurtain the depth, if that is possible?. Darn pretty though.

Thanks everyone. I have no idea on the depth. The current is hard to see but its thousands of gallons per minute boiling up. There is another more ancient one in that stream about 60 yards away that really pumps as well. Story goes some guys from Fla came up to dive it and got a little spooked. Said what looked to be a brand new "old" tractor was hung up down there as well. I know its mighty painfully cold to swim in. It has the white little shrimp in the water lettuce that is around it with periwinkles. Yes you can safely drink that water it is as sweet as it gets. The area is riddled with caves
What you are seeing and where I took the pictures was once a level pasture till the cave blew a leak and formed the blue hole.

True and the price of great land is fair as that is what I deal in as a hobby. I like to see farms stay as farms..
I always come back to Tennessee. Home I guess.

Here is another pic. The clay bank is like a coffer dam holding the water several feet above the stream below. This gives you an idea how much is pumping out of this hole and into the stream.
Its easy to see how clear the water is and how smooth it looks coming over the bank but look at the amount churning up below. Thats a lot of water. Probably about a 10 inch wall coming over.

Oh man, those are great pics. But the most obvious question that nobody asked, can you fish there? I like Tennessee too and been there. Never made it out to Nashville, but I went to Memphis. Just some advice for the rest of y'all. Never ever walk up to the Music Gate and proceed to walk up towards Graceland. Their response time is second to none. (Well hell I didn't know, and the gate was open, and no, definitely no, you can not detect on the grounds of Graceland. Unless you know somebody.)

Yes RGINN there are Brown trout in the creek shell crackers and red ears and sun fish. Full of wood ducks as well. I saw some brem in the hole once not sure how they got in there. We find solid white craw dads in the caves big as rock shrimp. Ok now I am hungry.
