Early morning Thursday, the 14th, my yellow lab, Xena, had her pups. She had 10 but the doghouse was so small she rolled over on 3 and killed them. There are 7 left. I ended up getting her a tent from Walmart so she and the pups would have plenty of room. I got the pen for her a few weeks ago to separate her and her pups from the other 2 dogs.

Congrat's on the new puppies, My dog is 10 years old now and I may have to start thinking of adopting a new puppy soon. I want my kids to grow up with a dog around.

Re: new puppies

Beautiful yellow lab, PB! If the pups turn out like their mom, they are going to be great looking dogs. My folks had labs the whole time I was growing up, and I've had my chocolate female for 14-1/2 years now. She's my baby, and the calmest lab I've ever been around. She's been in really good shape up until about the last year. I'm going to be a complete mess when she eventually leaves us.

I asked my wife, since you're in easy driving distance, if whe wanted a yellow lab pup. She said yes, but only the non-shedding kind. She's a little tired of dog hair in the freezer and the dishwasher (lab owners will be able to relate, I'm sure).

Make sure to post updates as they get older. Who knows? Maybe she'll fall in love with one of them....

Re: new puppies

The pups already look good player. My son's dog sired the litter and he already put some permanent marker on the one he wants for his pick. There were 2 males, one of which is the runt, and 5 females. They are not papered. We don't believe puppy mills and don't put a lot of stake in "pedigree" dogs. Some people gave us a papered Golden Retriever I was going to use for a hunting dog but she ended up with bad hips. I never had her bred for that reason although it would have been profitable. We just have good ol' faithful dogs. My wife says that, if Xena was a woman, she'd have to kill her. I'll post some updated pics so your wife can make her pick. :icon_thumleft: They will be 8 wks old in mid December so they'll make great Xmas pups.

I feel your pain granny. It's amazing how close one can get to their pets. Heck, I even care about the cats and I never used to like cats.

Re: new puppies

This is one of the males at 11 days old. They will probably have eyes open by the time I get home this evening. Their noses and pads are turning black now.

You're killing me, PB.

Cruella de Ville, I mean, my wife, says I can beg and cry and I still can't have one. I'm going to wait 6 more weeks, get her good and drunk, and show her the pics on this thread again.

Had my golden 16 years, and I sure do miss the yeller dust bunnies under the fridge, and yeller hair all over my clothes, in my truck, in my food, etc, etc. Got a dumb ole Lhasa Apso now, he don't play fetch, doesn't know what a squirrel is, can't see much past his mouth, all he does is eat, fart, and sleep :laughing7:......NGE And , he doesn't shed!
