A picture from the past

I was a lot younger when this picture was taken and my kids are now almost 50. The Boy is a grown man and serving on a Medivac team transporting wounded with Black Hawk Hellicopters in Afghanistan. I really needed the money back in those years to support my family and trapping was a good way. Lots of hard work but the money helped a lot. I now paint wildlife rather then trapping or hunting, but do support those that do. Hope this picture doesn't offend any one.

No offense taken here, you did what you had to do and you did good :icon_thumleft:. Rescue boys and gals are number 1 in my book, from when I was in service til now. Different over here to you guys, but the same guts :icon_thumleft:. I would post examples, but you know anyway, or at least your brave son does, thanks to him and his kind.

Thanks Chug. There unit is called DUSTOFF. Each of the letters is for a word that essentially means they will leave no fallen member behind and will rescue them , regardless of what it takes. Its a scary job,but one he really loves doing.

Thanks hammered. Wars are an unpleasant thing and it would be nice if we didnt have to be in these things, but it is what it is. We worry about him and will be glad when he is back in the states. This duty was his calling something he wanted to do.

What my friend just posted.

Can you PLEASE post some of your paintings?
Thanks 4H.As for the paintings. I have had some serious eye problems and had corrective surgery to fix it. Its a slow healing process, but all is working out great. Hopefully I plan on doing a new painting shortly. I have been doing research on an idea I have. When and if I get it done I will post it. Here is a picture of one I did a long time back when I could see.

That old pic is actually documentary in a sense. It reflects how many lived in this country in a way most would have no concept of. I have a niece, her husband and a nephew that still trap and tan back in Minnesota. It's secondary to their day jobs but still a good way to make some extra money these days. They also harvest ginsing to make extra money. It's amazing what that stuff sells for and how secretive the ginsing gathering community is concerning where to find it. A far cry from the big city life. Hat's off to ya Van. Nice painting too. :icon_thumleft:
