1st. The water is really high, above flood stage in a lot of places. At lock 1 for the Arkansas River, which is 10 miles up the White river, the upper and lower gates are open, cause the water is so high it is the same level on both sides of the dam. It is usually a 20 to 30 feet drop.
2nd. This is the dock behind Montezuma bar at Friar's point. There is really no way to adequately describe where the water level normally is, compared to where it is now. It is about a 50 foot walk from the little shack down the bank to the little dock barge under normal conditions.
3rd. One of our barges tied along side with the dock hose connected to the barge header pipe. If you notice the tree in the background between the men standing on the barge...it is trees of the same size behind the barge to the right side of the men!
We will be finished unloading by this evening and heading down to Greenville Mississippi. There my crew and I will get back on our regular boat, the M/V Kevin Conway, and supposedly head down toward New Orleans with 10 barges in the next few days. Hope y'all like the pics!
