Guys,

I think they are getting ready for the air show next w-end.........This transport plane flew over and then 10 minutes later flew by again!!! Had my camera the second time!

I wonder if that's what the militants think over in Pakistan/Afghanistan, man if only I had my rocket launcher, but wait, it's in the house! On the other hand, I'm sure they're not out doing yard work today either.......This plane used to be called a Hercules C130 back in the day, but my son said on XBox it is called an AC130. Anybody know what it is for sure?

Thanks for looking! Bob

Great pic Bob :icon_thumleft:, keep the camera ready for the airshow next weekend , there's an airshow here next weekend too :laughing7:
As far as the designation goes, I think it stands for that particular aircrafts roll, ie cargo, survailance, gunship etc. See attached link

Thanks Guys!! Pat- Will do my best to get some good shots......

Thanks for the link Hammered......I am an ex-Air Force brat so anytime I'm out in the yard and hear a slightly different whine to a plane I always, always look up........I have seen a Stealth bomber fly over several times at very low altitudes, of course Whitman Air Force Base is only about 80-100 miles away as the crow flies! My dad was stationed in Puerto Rico when I was little and I would walk down to the end of the street and watch the planes takeoff and land, literally at the end of the runway!! Fun stuff!

That is a C~130 a cargo plane you posted.

The AC~130 Spectre(spooky) is a "Close Air Support" Gunship based on the C~130 platform.

I'd bump this thread, just to see the video again! :laughing7:

Today, at the beach, many helicopters came by, as usual, the coast guard chopter, is always neat.

But when the Zeppelin, (blimp) came floating out, I always love seeing that thing!
We had 10-15 strong winds outta the southeast, and this blimp was booking it!
I was too far from the car, to go get the camera, and up to my neck in the ocean, so I couldn't get a pic.

We have a large hanger down here for them. If I get by there, I'll remember to get pic's for ya'll.

It is still called the Hercules C130 the "A" in front denotes it has "ATTACK" properties and the "C" means "CARGO". Just like "F" is fighter "B" is bomber "O" observation and so on. Our airshows are not sponsored by anyone but the USAF. It is really a promotional tool and for community relations.
