This plant came up in our Daylily garden this year and I have no idea what it is. The flower stem points up but makes a tight downward curve at the bloom end so the front of the bloom actually points downward. The first picture is the back of the bloom.

Never knew their were so many different daylilies until I started searching for your flower. Never found an exact match (maybe your's isn't fully opened) but it reminds me of this one:

SATAN'S CURLS
Red UFO crispate with very green throat. The flower is 6" across.

This is not a daylily. It is a clinging plant. The ends of the leaves wrap around anything they can to help hold the stalk up. I constructed a make shift trellis out of string and cedar limbs for the plants to cling to.

Not sure what it is, but would be great if you could collect some seed from it.

I would think it would be worth keeping at any rate.

Pretty flower. :icon_thumleft:

Maybe a pic of the entire plant please >?

Giz that looks an awful like like the Jack Michael day lily.

Here are some more pictures of the plants and how they cling to a support.

Not a daylily.

I think a google search for Gloriosa lily will show you what it is. See if you don't agree.

Yep! :icon_thumright: A type of lily (Lilium) but not a daylily (Hemerocallis).
