My Wife works as cashier at walmart when a customer came thru checkout with a hitchhiker.
They were happy to get rid of it so wife brought it to me.
I am keeping it in a wicker basket and will release it on farm in a day or 2.

Wonderful creatures but there is just something about a giant bug that gives me the creeps. I was standing outside talking to a friend many years ago and a praying mantis came along and landed right on his face. We both jumped about 10 feet into the air. They are completely harmless of course and are great for the environment, but that doesn't mean I want one to land on me. ;D

Thanks for sharing!

They will catch and eat a hummingbird. I have the pic to prove it.

Ouch! I did NOT need to see that. Fascinating stuff though.

That's a big one for sure. You have to wait to release it? You must be in a big city or something. I had one land on my elbow just yesterday. Not nearly as big as that one though. They DO bite if they feel threatened though; they aren't totally harmless but the bite isn't that vicious.
