Yes it is a banded slate bar weight. found it back in the spring on my property in a creek bank. the first thing I found when I started hunting artifacts. It got me hooked... :tongue3: and yes the ground here is in desperate need of a drink.

I'm not clear here though. What do you mean a snail gang? Snails ate the tortuga?


I'm having visuals of a snails gang (with forks and napkins) chasing down a turtle in a corn field. Now that's a race I'd love to watch. Not.

Serious about my first question though...

man is a gopher tortises worst foe * --some tortises can out live a human average age range wize if not ran over or otherwize killed by man
* -- tortises just hole up inside their shells which few animals can crack open -- same as armidillos

mean azz kids often kill such peaceful animals for "fun" -- wicked lil children.

Around here snails will eat anyhing the can catch. That poor guy probably got caught off guard and ambushed.

I don't think a kid had anything to do with the turtle's demise. We don't have any kids that live close to us. Don't know how or what killed this little guy but I am sure it wasn't pretty. Whatever it was had to be fairly strong to bust thru the sell like that. Probably snails with clubs....
