We had about 8 or so inches of snow in the early hours of this morning, so I grabbed the camera, and Benson of course and headed off to a local wildlife park. The pics are just a few from the walk today, but I did manage, just as it was starting to get dark, to get some shots of the Mandarin ducks I've been looking for for a while now . The downside is the sub zero temps are due to stay for a while yet , anyway I hope you enjoy the pics and the walk
I like the pics of the ducks. Are they native to there, or brought in? Not real familiar with that type of duck.
Hi RGINN, the Mandarin was introduced from China sometime before 1745, but most of the wild population are as a result of birds that escaped or were released in the late 19th and early 20th century. They look even better in sunlight.
Benson looks happy to be in the great outdoors. I like the no fishing sign. Those pretty little ducks are not the same ones that are served @ Chinese restaurants ? If they are, they're too pretty to eat.
Thanks guys, they sure are pretty ducks, and I'm going back tomorrow with a bigger lens . I don't know if they are on the menu in China, but knowing the Chinese diet, they probably are
Wow, your newest pictures are breathtaking, I love the ones in flight, you captured them beautifully! It's wonderful to see Benson, he looks so happy! Chug picked the one lone duck for his background this week, and I'm doing the 2 birds flying! Thanks for sharing, you really made our day!!! Red
Found my first gold for 2011!!!! One gold and diamond ring, and one 22 carat gold ring from Europe!!!!!
