On The Road . Shoshone to DVJ .
When I left home a slow moving storm from the Pacific was moving through eastren California and southren Nevada . Bringing showers and snow at the higher elevations . After a good rain the Greasewood and Sagebrush are very pungent and the clouds cast shadows across the landscape . I am heading West on CA SR 127 toward Death Valley Junction . My biggest concern now is trying to find a somewhat dry camp for the night . The Funeral Mountains are ahead and to the left of the road . Old telephone poles are my compaions complete with glass insulators as I head toward the next clue in my serach . Hoss

You are very welcome Bill . Don't be upset with your wife , many take a view of the desert as being a " vast wasteland " This is very far from the truth . I have been in jungles , red wood forest . pines , beaches and mountain peaks , but there is something very unique about the desert . The still , the quiteness , the fact that it seems like you can see forever . You get the feeling that something is calling you to this place and there nothing but you the land and the sky . Coax her on down here and I think she might very well find the rare beauty of the desert very rewarding ! Hoss
