Death Valley Junction is just about as far as you can get from anywhere . A wide spot in the road that is surrouned by mile's and mile's of ...... mile's and mile's ! If you stop and look you will find a cafe ( with the best home made pie this side of the Panamints ! ) a nice , clean hotel and the world famous Amargosa Opera House . No I am not saying that tounge-in-cheek it really is world famous ! This is the home of Marta Becket and if name sounds a littile familar it could be because you saw her on the cover of National Geographic or 60 Minitues or many other magazine and television stories . Her story is too long for me to recount for you here , so I will leave a link below . If you are ever out Death Valley way make sure you stop and say hi to Miss Marta . You will be forever glad you did ! Hoss

There was a movie on the Independent Film Channel a few years back about her. I think it was called "Amargosa" and told of her history and love of ballet.

I prefer late March or early April . The nights are still cool and the day time temps are the mid 70 ° . October is also very pleasnt but this is also the time of the Death Valley 49ers Encampment and it gets very crowded, thousands come for this event . Hoss
