Finally got some Barn Owl photo's

I've been a bit busy for the last few weeks studying and exams, but I have been able to get out a few times with the camera. Unfortunately the weather has been bad for photography but today the sun came out and the winds dropped a bit. I was perched in my normal place today with not much about apart from mosquitoes and other bugs, and I was thinking about packing up and going home in about another 20 minutes or so. When suddenly I looked behind me and there was the barn owl not 20 feet away. I saw it, it saw me, I fumbled with the camera getting it off the tripod, kicked over my coffee, fell over my stool, as the barn owl looked over it's shoulder and flew away grinning. So I picked everything up, sat down and had another coffee whilst mentally kicking myself (it hurts less). Then in the distance I saw the owl quartering a field, maybe getting closer. I took the camera off the tripod, pulled up my camo hood and started creeping along the rows of wheat. YES it was coming closer, but the light was dropping so I cranked up the ISO and then it was upon me. My adrenalin was pumping and I was shaking, but I got some shots. They're not the best, but I'm happy with them. I'm also posting a couple of shots of a Long Tail Tit I took the day before yesterday. I hope you like them. Some are not quite in focus, but that was the adrenalin

Hi Chris, I have loved owls for a long time now, and with the degree I'm studying for I have finally learned how and why owls are silent. Their feathers are different to all other birds, even birds of prey. They have evolved for purely silent flight, unlike falcons and eagles and such. Glad you liked the pics and the best to you and your family.

My grandaughter loves everything about owls and collects pictures, little statues, anything with an owl on it. She has an owl on her bedspread even! Monty

Wow, great photos. Daylight no less.
I had one swoop by my head at night and their wingspan is awesome - hard to tell how big they are from a distance.
    Nice work, thanks!
