Teakettle Junction is one of those great littlie spots that you come across if you roam the desert long enough . Back in the late 1800s when mining was expanding in to Death Valley some intrepid miner came up with the idea to leave a teakettle at these crossroads so that he could leave messages for his friends in it ( think texting ...... 1880s style ! ) . Something like " Hey RR . I will be back here next Monday morning. Meet me ........ we need to talk about that bottle of " Oh be joyful ! " you owe me . Now fast forward 150 years ..... and the tradition still carries on ..... albeit somewhat different . Now a days people leave coins , pics of themselves , poems , good luck tokens and all sorts of things . I however decided to go the traditional route ....... but update it a bit . I first found a great old teakettle . Then went to Wal-Greens and bought a bunch of those fake casino chip key rings ( I live in Las Vegas NV ) . Then went on eBay and bought a couple lots of vintage post cards . I painted my teakettle ( yeah , yeah , I know it looks like crap , but at least it will get your attention ! ) . I then put my key chains and post cards in zip lock bags with a note saying " Hi my name is Hoss with my email address saying ' Please send me a pic of you at Teakettle Junction and I will send you one of me . So far I have had 1 response . Thanks for coming along ! Hope You had a good time ! Hoss
