Snapper laying eggs

Was out scouting out new spots today and we came upon a snapping turtle actully laying her eggs by the side of the road.
What an amazing sight.

Yea me too, I have notified the DNR and advised them that I can take them to the spot if they would like.

Great pic 'Z'....Nature will 'have it's way'.....if the skunks, raccoons, fox, coyote... etc. etc. have a keen nose....hopefully they miss this batch! and get to hatch!

Would there be any use in putting a few stakes around the nest, so cars wouldnt drive on top of it? Maybe even a sign? I know the skunks cant read, or maybe not all of them.

Advertising the site would be just as damaging I think...bringing `the curious kind..that can read`...humans!
