Did you climb Mt. Whitney? Looks like that mountain in the pic on the right, but it isn't. Whitney is the peak to the immediate left of that tall peak--just much father away makes it look 'shorter'. Alabama Hills in the foreground wherein many a western movie was filmed back in the day.
Don....

Thanks for sharing those Ron...absolutely beautiful country.

Spent a good many weekends in my younger years cruising the
hills from there to Little Lake. Lots of wonderful memories in
those hills.

No, I didn't climb it. Even if I had time, I'm not in good enough shape to try something like that. Was just passing through.

Did notice they have a Western Movie museum there at lone pine.

Nice pics ron. how often do you take the 395 route? Years ago I fished Convict Lake in that area. Beautiful place.
Thanks PB and Everyone,

No set time for how often I use 395. Once in a while when I end up delivering in the Spokane, Wa. area, and they usually send me to north Idaho to get lumber for LA., and route me down 395.

Ron, this weather is fixin' to get real nasty, and soon. Back in '95 I
was driving for a small flatbed outfit out of Sheridan, Wy., and saw
a few winters out there first-hand. It's the "big leagues" of driving,
that's for sure, and poop happens so damn fast when you're on ice.

I know you ain't no greenhorn, but be safe out there! I can't drive
big trucks any more, but would love to have had the chance to make
just one more run before I hung it up. Some days I really miss it...
..at least till the memories return of a few nasty Wyoming winter
storms.

Discovery should do an "Ice Road Truckers" season about the drivers running
that Rocky Mountain corridor all winter. Those guys in Alaska don't drive on
anything worse (except for lakes) than what we did (and you still do) getting
loads into all the small, back-country towns at ridiculous elevations.
