Watched a couple of whitetail bucks fighting this evening outside our yard fence. They squared off and locked horns, broke loose and squared off again.
Then as I watched, they made a couple of scrapes, snorted and postured a little bit but didn't hook up anymore.
Really cool to watch! I LOVE deer season!!

WOW!! That's something you don't see every day!
Nope...you don't see this very often. I wish I had been videoing it! It was so neat to see them fighting.
Thanks for the comments fyrffytr1!

I am an avid deer hunter. Have only seen it a couple of times in over 30 years hunting. I have heard them several times. Awesome pics.:icon_thumleft:

Thanks mamabear....Since we feed just outside our fence, we've seen this quite a few times. The darker colored one is an old buck---he's been coming in to the feeder since 2007/2008. I think they get darker as they mature.
We call the darker colored one the "Tall Buck" because he has really long G2 tines---and he's really easy to recognize because he has a double throat patch and is missing his left eye(from fighting with another buck). We've even found a couple of his sheds!
Here's a collage showing how he's grown:

Thanks TNGUNS. These deer are free range, but they tend to stay in this area. We've taken thousands of pictures and have witnessed a lot of neat stuff. I really like watching the does fight.....the rear up on their hind legs and box, and the hair flies! :)

Look like some big boys! Lots of good eating there.
Thanks packerbacker....We've been pouring the cattle cake, creep feed and corn to them! They'll loose a lot of that fat when the rut starts, but they're really healthy looking right now. :)

Thanks RGINN. He's my favorite too. And he's a tough old booger.....He lost that left eye when he was about 3, but it didn't slow him down any. He's one of the dominant bucks in this area.

the collage was a great idea. I have dogs so not much wildlife comes through my place. Although last yr there were about a dozen turkey walking all in a straight line to the big cedar by the house. Didn't have my camera!

Excellent photo encounter!

Now all you need to do is to arrange those cattle cakes in a manner so they lead into the shed, and as soon as they go in, shut the door, ''Presto'' venison is awaiting. :icon_scratch:, :laughing7:

Me too, Tamrock....It was a neat experience. I'm glad the pictures didn't come out too blurry!

You know I got a new 50# recurve, and it will sail that arrow dead on every time, so....nah, long as Safeway has hamburger meat on sale and I can afford it that ole buck's safe from me. We never hunted for sport, always for subsistence.
