This I saw 10 miles north of Durango on Hwy 550. At one time there was a hot springs resort at this location. Looking in to that old resort online I see it has long been abandoned and saw a picture of what was left. This would be a good spot to run a MD over to see what folks dropped back in the late 19th, early 20th century. The rock this spring forms is known as Travertine.

That's cool, Tamrock! It reminds me of the Rico hot springs (next major valley to the west, Dolores R.). Only there the locals put an old hot tub in to soak you weary bones!
Great pic.

That is so awesome and great pictures of it.:icon_thumleft: Would that be the same "Pinkerton" of the old west stories...think they were detectives?

Looks nice with all that color, but doesn't look hot without any steam. Can one touch the water without getting scalded?

It wasn't hot, but more like a very warm bath water. I put my fingers in it.

Thanks for the cool pic! I have been through Durango many times, but I don't remember ever visiting that site. I'm going to put a note in my travel files to stop and see it next time!
