These tracks were at the entrance where Gary and I hunted today. Guess you on want to cover only 1/2 your ears with your headset and not spend too much time looking in the hole. :laughing7: tracks1.jpg tracks2.jpg

Good idea to take a partner. Just make sure he's slower than you. You don't have to outrun the bear, just have to outrun your partner. Good luck.

Don't think you're looking at a bear track. Bears do not have retractable claws,
and there are no claw marks present.

My guess is that's a large female Cougar with a kitten tagging along.

Either way, make a lot of noise while your hunting and they should move
out of the area before you have issues. DO NOT get between that
Mama cougar and her kid...bad juju!

Bear or Cougar it`s right out my front door ...little
too close...i`d like to get a picture of that . Gary

I just realized that there are two pics..kinda looked like
a large and small print side by side. Could be a bear,
but I've still got my $$ on it being a cougar.

Were there other good tracks in the area?

For a pic, best way is to set up a game camera looking down on
the trail, then, any time a critter walks by you'll get pics. They
aren't expensive, and it's always a lot of fun checking to see
what kind of critters ya got wanderin' around your yard. You
might be surprised..8-)

I think it's a bear with 5 toes flat to the ground. A cat will make an impression with 4 toes I think. The 5th on a cat is up higher and won't make a print.

Cat will leave a 4-toed print. I don't understand the small indentation behind the print. Neither a bear or cat will leave that or is it just something that looks like part of the print but isn't?

It's a bear. Back foot encroaching on front. Cat doesn't do that. Not a very big critter, but that's easy for me to say. I'm in front of a warm fire and a couple of floors up...

it's two pictures of the same track, no claw marks, most likely a cat.
