Well not much I could photograph at 8 p m, so I'll describe it. The new moon was setting below the mountain tops as I entered the pass at Taylor Res. The hunters camp fires glowed though the pines here and there with their sweet aroma in the night air as I drove at a slow 20-15 mph along the night with the window down. Saw a Porcupine cross the road in my headlights as the only creature of the night. After I crested the top at 12'162 feet and drove down a little to the east side of the pass to cover the western horizon and get to the least amount of light to gaze at the stars and milky way from that altitude. I so wish I could have photographed that for you all, but I don't have the gear to do anything like that. You'll just need to get out and see all of that for yourself someplace.

Aw, I loved your description, made me wistful.

And you captured 'the new moon with old moon in her arms'! (Or is it 'the old moon with the new moon in her arms'?) I've rarely seen that here.
