'Hovenweep' is a Ute word meaning 'hell', I believe. It is in a god-forsaken part of the country that people abandoned 800 yrs. ago and just as hot. But I have always wanted to check it out, and camped there Wednesday night. About six villages in the area built by the 'ancestral Pueblans', which is the politically correct way of saying 'Anasazi'. I don't know what they called themselves.
