Help identify button

I recently found this button at an old farm. It has Kendrick &co on the back and is gold gilt with a rope on the border. It about the size of a quarter.

You may what to post this in the "what is it" forum. Good shots of a button I'll add. Looks like it once had a shield or something in the center.

Hi; It is an 1800's Two Piece Button. The center would have had some type of Intaglio or glass piece in it like a Wax seal. I don't think it was wax though ok. Nice find. PEACE:RONB

Kendrick & Co. started business in the early 1830s and was probably the same firm as "Ives, Kendrick & Co. In 1847 it became the "Waterville Mfg. Co. So your button dates from the 1830s to 1847 I would date it to the 1840s when two piece buttons came into production.

That's what I have found too but there appears to be a design on the face that is hard to see without magnification
