I've been looking and looking at this and can't decide if that's a roof wedged in that old stone arch bridge or a feeble attempt to support the bridge. Has to have some history to it. The National Road, Route 40, had many stone arch bridges along it's route; is US Route 40 nearby?

It almost looks like a feeble attempt to stop debris from falling off the arch area, like it looks like Canvas attached to the boards?

sorry guys i dont know what it is but it looks like water on the other side of the bridge to, this pic was actually taken from far away, i have 12 x zoom, probably more than a 100 yards away and I was up against a fence, cattle inside so I dont know how to get any closer and really dont know the area that well, just thought it was neat and worth stopping and taking a pic

Justgeese - this would be on the north part of town, actually i was looking for a road and was lost, sure i could find it again if i get up that way and let you know
