ginger grows in UK

Hi all
I had a piece of ginger root in the kitchen and noticed it had
a shoot on the side of it, so I planted it in a pot,
two weeks later see picture.


I will update when/if the leaves come out.

Can't wait to see. I have "hidden ginger"...it does have them gingerly smell, I understand in Indoneasia they use the leaves to bake fish in. The roots are not the real ginger you eat.
